Now everyone has a view about social networking sites especially Facebook. For most of us Facebook & Twitter, but especially Facebook has been a method of keeping touch with many friends and family members wherever they may be worldwide. But as with any web activity there’s an opportunity to use Facebook in a commercial manner as well
Build ‘You’ as a Brand and more!
Everybody knows about the power of Facebook. Everybody on the planet is on this site and most of them are there daily. Its therefore has become a key ingredient to any successful Internet marketing strategy. There are lots of ways you can use it, building you as a ‘brand’ is just one way however today we’re going to look at another one in particular – Facebook Ads.
Have you noticed yet the ads that pop up on the right side of the screen? And did you notice how much they related to your profile? This is the magic of Facebook Ads. Anyone can create their own Facebook Ads and it’s ridiculously easy to do.
They work in much the same way as Google AdWords. You can choose to pay per impression, pay a monthly fee or pay per click. It takes just a minute to enter in your ad title and body, and then add an image and you’re ready to go.
Closely Target Your Clients
One of the best things about Facebook Ads is that you can perfectly target your market. You can choose any demographic by region, gender, age, education level, interests, or anything else. People on Facebook identify themselves through their profiles. They’re providing that information for you! All you have to do is decide exactly what type of person wants what you’re offering.
Tips On Using Facebook Ads Effectively
Tip No. 1 -When using Facebook Ads, it might be tempting to run your ad in several different countries. But you shouldn’t do this because a country where your ad flops will drag your ad’s rating down. Instead, for each ad pick one country to run it in.
Tip No. 2 -You should also make sure that you fulfil the promise made in the ad. If you’re getting lots of clicks but no sales, this means that somewhere along the line you’re not getting it right. Lots of clicks but no sales means people are checking it out and then realizing it’s not what they thought it was.
Tip No. 3 -Facebook lets you put images on your ads, and this is a must. It makes a huge difference and this has been split tested and proven. After all, Facebook is social media; people want to see who they’re talking to. Don’t forget the social aspect!
Tip No. 4 -It’s tough to say exactly what would be an ‘average’ click thru rate, but you should at least be getting 0.02%, and somewhere around 0.05% or above is much better. If your click thru rate is lower than 0.05%, you might want to tweak the ad a little. Try moving it around, changing the image, and so on. Use that as a benchmark.
Downsides Of Facebook Ads
First of all, click thru rates for Facebook Ads are much lower than those of Google AdWords. These rates have been increasing since the Ads system was introduced in 2008, but they’re still pretty low. And some folks think that they charge too much for too little.
Another downside is that people are on Facebook to socialize, not to buy. This presents a challenge to you, and is a key point – if you use a ‘hard sell’ or very direct sales approach you’ll not only get nowhere but people will ‘actively’ dislike it – remember be social. You really need to grab their attention and offer them something for clicking. Or, again, you have to know how to target your market exactly.
Get In at Ground Level
And finally, Facebook Ads is still new and they’re still working out the kinks. It’s not as effective yet as other ad networks. However, this can also be seen as a good thing. It’s still new, so competition is low. That means that if you get into the game soon and start learning how it works, you can be way ahead of everybody else. So, quit reading and start making those ads!
As with all Internet marketing activity it’s a case of trial and error – try & find your own method of using the Facebook resource to you online business’s benefit. Personally for Sam & I it’s about at the moment building our brand awareness, getting exposure and therefore back links. Our Facebook ad activity has also worked and we’ll be doing more very soon.
